The Barberrics LLC (a California limited liability company) operates https://thebarberricsbarbershop.com and the barbershop at 2515 W. Beverly Blvd, Montebello, CA 90640. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than boilerplate.
1. Information We Collect
When you book an appointment we collect:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address, if you provide one
- Any notes you type into the booking form
- The service, barber, date, and time you selected
- A record of the choices you made on the booking form: whether you agreed to receive text messages or marketing email, when you did, and which version of our policies was on screen at the time
If you create an account, we also keep your password (stored in scrambled form, so that we cannot read it), your notification settings, your appointment history, and any barbers or products you mark as favorites.
If you send us a message through the contact form, we keep your name, email address, phone number (if you give one), the subject, and your message, so the shop can read and answer it.
If you leave a review after a visit, we keep your rating, your comment, and your name. A published review shows your first name and the first initial of your last name (for example, "Carlos P."), your rating, and your comment. Reviews are public.
The shop's staff may also keep private notes and labels about customers, such as hair preferences, so that your barber knows what you like. These are visible only to the shop's staff.
If you provide an email address when you book, whether or not you buy anything, our storefront provider holds a customer record for you (your name, your email address, and your phone number if you gave one). If you buy a product, that provider also records your order and shipping details.
Like any website, the services that deliver this site to you, described in section 4, receive technical information such as your IP address and the pages you request, and may keep it in their server logs.
We do not ask for, and you should never send us, sensitive information such as government identification numbers or health records.
2. Payment Information
We never see your full card number. Appointments are paid in person at the shop. Product purchases are completed on a checkout page hosted by Shopify, which processes the payment. Card data goes to Shopify and its payment processors, not to us.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use what we collect to:
- Confirm, remind you about, and manage your appointments
- Contact you if something changes with your booking
- Answer messages you send us
- Fulfill and ship product orders
- Send you offers, but only if you checked the box asking for them
- Keep records of past visits so your barber knows your preferences
- Keep a record of the choices you made when you booked
- Show the reviews you choose to leave
4. Who We Share It With
We share information only with the service providers that make the site work:
- Vercel — hosts this website. Like any web host, it sees your IP address and the pages you request
- Google Cloud — hosts our application server, which handles bookings and accounts
- Neon — hosts our database
- Resend — sends appointment emails and review-request emails
- Twilio — our text-message provider. We are not currently sending text messages. If we turn them on, your phone number and the message would pass through Twilio
- Shopify — powers the online store, checkout, and payment, and holds a customer record (name, email address, and phone number if you gave one, plus whether you asked for marketing email) for anyone who books or orders with us using an email address
- Amazon Web Services — stores images uploaded to the site
- Google Fonts — delivers the typefaces used on this site to your browser, which sends your IP address to Google
- Google Maps — our Contact page shows an embedded map. Loading the page loads the map from Google, which receives your IP address and handles it under Google's own privacy policy
Each of these receives only what it needs to do its job. We also disclose information when the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
5. Advertising and Tracking
This site runs no advertising trackers, no analytics scripts, and no third-party pixels. We do not track you across other websites, and we do not build advertising profiles.
This site does not set cookies of its own. It stores a small amount of functional data in your browser: a login token if you sign in, a shopping cart identifier if you add a product, the choices you have made so far in an unfinished booking (which your browser clears when you close the tab), and a note that you have already seen the opening animation. None of it is used for advertising, and clearing your browser data removes it. The outside services named in section 4 handle your data under their own policies.
6. How Long We Keep It
We keep appointment records for as long as you remain a customer and for a reasonable period afterward, so that we have an accurate service history. You can ask us to delete your information by contacting us using the details in section 11. We will handle your request, and if we are unable to remove something entirely, we will tell you why.
7. Text Messages and Email
Appointment texts are covered by our SMS Terms. We are not currently sending appointment text messages. If we turn them on, you can stop them at any time by replying STOP to any message.
Marketing email is opt-in only — you receive it solely if you asked for it, and every message includes an unsubscribe link. Appointment confirmations and reminders are not marketing and are sent because you booked with us.
8. Your Choices and California Rights
You may ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your information
- Stop sending you texts or marketing email
If you are a California resident, state law gives you rights to know what personal information a business collects about you, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
To make any request, contact us using the details in section 11. We will not charge you or treat you differently for asking.
9. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian books an appointment for a child, we treat the information as the parent's or guardian's. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected in a new policy version recorded with future bookings.
